An A4 stainless steel full hex BSW (British Standard Whitworth) nut is a standard, six-sided, internally threaded fastener made from A4 (AISI 316, "marine grade") stainless steel. The addition of molybdenum provides superior resistance to chlorides and pitting corrosion compared to A2 stainless steel. These nuts are designed for highly corrosive, demanding environments, including marine applications, chemical processing plants, water treatment facilities, and for maintenance of legacy BSW machinery in harsh conditions.
